Pond Retention Boulder Wall in Prestwick Village Highland, Michigan

Although this looks like a simple boulder wall project there are many hurdles here that we had to overcome. Our client had several problems; erosion, large weeds growing along the banks, an uneven shore line and the inability to mow or maintain the shore line properly. Our solution(s) to these problems were to remove the overgrowth of weeds and cattails and take out the existing boulders. We then installed a double stacked boulder wall, thus changing the grade. We consequently backfilled with topsoil, compacted this soil and raked smooth. Additionally we installed a 10′ wide .45 mil. liner just below the water line in the pond and then concealed the liner with egg rock stone. We did this to prevent future water weed growth and to make the shore line appears neat and clean. In the Spring we will be mass planting ornamental grasses in the disturbed area to the South. This boulder wall measures 115′ long x 2′ high.
